Ninth Day of Christmas

9. On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me some super glue:

Tearing apart two things joined by super glue results in damage to both. So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate (Matthew 19:6).

By Tom Neven

And from Something Sublime:

The nine ladies dancing represent the nine fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22. These fruits are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Take a look at Galatians 5:16-26which describes living by the Spirit. Life by the Spirit does not gratify the human nature but rather, is led by the Spirit...keeping in step with the Spirit. This involves denying the sinful nature: "idolatry and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage and selfish ambition"...to name a few! When we live "in step", we see the results, or fruits of the Spirit. "Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other" vs. 26. Those who live by the Spirit, inherit the Kingdom of God!

“In beholding old stones we may feel our anxieties about our achievements–and lack of them–slacken . . . Vast landscapes [and seascapes] can have an anxiety–reducing effect similar to ruins, for they are the representatives of infinite space, as ruins are the representatives of infinite time, against which our weak, short-lived bodies seem no less inconsequential than those of moths or spiders.”—Alain de Botton in Status Anxiety
